As Yuga Labs prepares to launch the first iteration of an always-on Otherside this summer, Garga shared that the company is focused on two main things: game modes and the meta-narrative surrounding the Koda’s home world, the Nexus!
For the second Wednesday in a row, Yuga Labs CEO Garga took to the Otherside Discord to answer Apes’ and Voyagers’ questions about Otherside.
During the chat, Garga told the community that he and the team are focused on creating things to do on the Otherside and on broader storytelling surrounding the Nexus, as well as how it relates to players progressing in the metaverse.
“We’re focused on two main things: The main central hub of Nexus, which is the portal to all kinds of different worlds,” Garga wrote. “Some game modes that we are making ourselves (Like Dragon), and others that ODK builders are building (a lot of range here, from hangout spots /podcasting spaces / etc to more social type mini games like the Poker mode we debuted to a smaller number of full fledged game modes like Dragon). There’s a meta narrative to Otherside and the Nexus. Nexus is the place where chaos and creation collide. That’s what you see Blue being pulled between in the second Otherside BC trailer. Player progression is super important even to a metaverse platform, and we have plans for that.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs has showcased some of the game modes that the community can expect to see on Otherside later this year, like Project Dragon, Poker, and its Otherside answer to Twitter Spaces, Bubbles.
Additionally, Yuga Labs gave 20-25 developers early access to the Otherside’s ODK, and Garga expects there to be a dozen experiences for gamers to enjoy once the metaverse opens this summer.
When it comes to the Nexus and the broader story going on in Otherside, Garga gave the community an idea that last week.
“Think of Nexus as the ancestral home of the Kodas, with an enormous Koda temple at its center,” Garga wrote. “It’s the central hub for all Otherside, connecting realms and biomess through a vast network of portals. in its prime, Nexus was illuminated by Soma, which is the creation energy you saw Blue bottling up in the Otherside B.C. trailer but chaos, the other energy we see in the trailer and throughout Otherside, has really fucked the place up these days…. it is a Chaos environment but a major city similar to Meetropolis. it’s near the site of the temple we see in the second Otherside trailer.”

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow all things Otherside and will keep you posted on the Nexus as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for updates!
