The Web3 world has Pengu to burn! The Pudgy Penguins project will officially close the claim window for its memecoin tomorrow morning and burn all unclaimed tokens.
Six weeks after Pudgy Penguins invited nearly every degen with a wallet to claim $PENGU, the project has lit a match and is getting ready to burn any unclaimed tokens on Wednesday, February 5th, at 9 A.M. EST.
“Tomorrow, at 9AM EST, the PENGU claim will end, and all remaining supply will be burnt,” the project tweeted today. “Currently, 13.82% of the total supply is on track to being burnt.”
The decision to close the claim window early was announced last week by Pudgy Penguins owner Luca Netz, who explained that most real users have already claimed their tokens.
“Only people claiming here are Bots that have no interest in being apart of the ecosystem,” Pudgy Penguins Owner Lua Netz tweeted last week when he announced that he was closing the claim window early. “95% of penguins have claimed. Makes no sense to keep it open if the data says that the only people claiming today are bots who are running scripts for the 8m eligible wallets.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Pudgy Penguin NFT holders, OG Ethereum and Solana users, BNB Explorers, and Abstract Elite Chads have all been eligible to claim $PENGU since the airdrop launched on December 17, 2024.
