The first iteration of Otherside is coming this June and Yuga Labs CEO Garga believes that it will blow every other crypto metaverse out of the water.
On Monday, BAYC member VeraTheApe released the latest episode of her Vera The Intern podcast featuring Garga.
In the episode, Vera asked the Yuga Labs CEO about the highly anticipated June launch of Otherside and what the community can expect when the metaverse goes live.
“We are planning for the persistent world of Otherside to go live in June,” he said. “Meaning it will be a 24/7 always on experience where the core main islands, two of them we’ve debuted already and the third we will be debuting soon, the swamp: homes to the Apes. Meetropolis home to the Meebits, and Nexus which we see as the core and center of Otherside and as the ancestorial home of the Kodas. Those would all be 24/7. The ODK will be accessible by any Devs that want to get into it. And a bunch of different ODK experiences that we’ve been cooking up. The full, everything that we’ve dreamed of, for Otherside will definitely not be accessible by June, but this is a really big milestone that we are excited about, and I think that it will blow every other crypto metaverse out of the water.”
Garga also revealed that 20-25 developers have been actively building with the ODK and said he expects there to be a dozen experiences for gamers to enjoy this summer. He hinted at upcoming AI Agent meta integrations and reiterated that the entire metaverse economy will be powered by $Ape.
“Everything on Otherside runs on chain,” he said. “So tipping, transactions, cosmetics, the whole economy will be running on ApeChain.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Garga first announced the June launch of Otherside’s initial version during a Discord chat last week.
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow all things Otherside and bring you the latest updates on the metaverse as more information becomes available. Stay tuned!
