Attention Apes, Meebs, Voyagers, and more! Keep your Friday night open this week as Yuga Labs prepares to invite everyone from around the swamp—and beyond—to participate in a potentially record-breaking gaming event!
Things will be anything but boring this Friday as Yuga Labs opens this month’s Otherside Project Dragon event to the masses in hopes of breaking the world record for the most players in an online first-person shooter (FPS) battle!
“Put January 31, 9pm ET into your calendar now,” BAYC Social Lead BaronVonHustle tweeted. “You don’t need an NFT to join so make sure to show up and attempt to break the world record together.”
Currently, PlanetSide 2 holds the world record for the most players in a single online FPS match, with 1,530 players, according to Wikipedia.
Breaking this record has been a priority for Yuga Labs CEO Garga, who has been talking about the challenge all month on X, in Discord, and on the VeraTheIntern Podcast.
Recently, Garga explained that the M Squared technology powering Otherside is designed for these massive concurrent events:
“I think one of the things that people don’t get necessarily is that Otherside runs on M Squared and has the ability for mass concurrent,”he said. “The first Project Dragon we had 1300 people in one game in one shard all playing together. The world record is like 1,500 people for a shard, we are going to try and break that record pretty soon here.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Project Dragon is Yuga Labs’ monthly gaming event. The gameplay is a mix of Fortnite and Call of Duty’s Domination mode, where Apes, Meebits, Kodas, and Voyager Robots battle it out in the swamp to take over checkpoints.
The Bored Ape Gazette will bring you live, wartime coverage of this month’s Project Dragon event on January 31 and will let you know if the community breaks the record! Stay tuned for updates.
