Otherside AI Agents and rewarding holders were topics of discussion during Yuga Labs CEO Garga’s second-ever Otherside Discord Q&A this afternoon!
For the second Wednesday in a row, Yuga Labs CEO Garga took to the Otherside Discord, answering community members’ questions and sharing some alpha where possible.
During the exchange with Voyagers, Garga delved into the challenges of getting AI Agents’ personalities just right while ensuring the agents have quests to fulfill.
“can’t get into too many details. We have a few different threads going on this,” Garga said. “I think the potential for interactive, thoughtful, AI NPCs is huge for Otherside and video games in general. The trick is getting the personality right. Huge difference between lame slop bots, and engaging characters. Also a big trick in making sure that you can manage all that WHILE having a ‘quest’ tree to fulfill.”
Later in the Q&A, Garga responded to questions about rewarding longtime community members, reiterating that the highly anticpted AI project would do just that.
“Yes, I am thinking about that,” he said. “BAYC and Otherside are my priorities and the other project we’re working on would reward both BAYC and OS.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Garga shared that this secret other project is being led by PP Man, will involve AI ,and reward Apes and Voyagers on a recent episode of the Vera The Intern Podcast.
“The secret project is very exciting,” Garga said. “It’s something that we are super stoked about. It’s something that we think will reward for Apes and Otherdeed holders its own new thing. Its something that really tickled wylie and I. It involves a character that we invited. It involved AI and a crypto product that we are excited about. And anyway, it should be fun!”
At this time, we don’t know specifics about the project, but it’s expected to launch before the first persistent iteration of Otherside this June.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Garga has been talking a lot about AI in the past two months.
Back in December, he revealed that Yuga Labs was working with the Wire Network on Otherside AI Agents. “Cooking with friends,” he tweeted along with a flow chart that begins with an “iNPC (Interactive Non-Playable Character)” and ends with independent AI-driven characters capable of guiding narratives and generating quests for players.
Then, last week, Garga announced that AI agents built using a16z’s Eliza framework can now interact with $Ape. He also revealed that Yuga Labs plans to integrate AI into Otherside’s initial persistent metaverse launch this June.
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Yuga Labs’ AI efforts and is working to bring you additional coverage of today’s Discord Q&A. Stay tuned for updates!
